Summary

The PREFABRI_CO2 project aims to contribute to the mitigation of climate change through the development of new alternatives for the capture and valorisation of industrial CO2 in the curing of precast concrete elements.

Main novelty of the project: the study of new alternatives of CO2 capture with hydrotalcites and the valorisation of CO2 as a product of commercial interest for curing precast concrete elements with natural aggregates and recycled aggregates from industrial waste (circular economy) with or without CO2 capture materials incorporation, and which, due to their carbonation and CO2 capture capacity, can be marketed as prefabricated carbon-negative technology products.

The proposal aims to contribute to the mitigation of climate change and, in parallel, promote the circular economy in the construction sector.

A multidisciplinary research team with strong synergies formed by researchers from Groups TEP-227 (Construction Engineering) and FQM-391 (Materials and Applications) of the University of Córdoba has been set up to address complex problems and make significant progress in the knowledge of new alternatives for CO2 capture and valorisation. PREFABRI-CO2 has the support of associations and companies and the participation of international reference researchers.
